Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disease that affects haemoglobin.

Haemoglobin is a protein found on our red blood cells that carries oxygen and we need it to survive.

SCD is not from an infection or vaccination or curse – it has been clearly proven to be a genetic condition.

But what governs who gets it and how?

In particular watch this video to learn the chances that AS genotype couple will have a child with genotype SS - who will develop Sickle Cell Disease.
