AskAwayHealth is a digital women’s health clinic and education hub led by Dr Sylvia Kama-Kieghe; a UK-based NHS and private GP. We specialise in the questions women are often too embarrassed, too rushed, or too scared to ask in a 10‑minute appointment.
Our mission is simple: clear, calm, evidence‑based women’s health information that helps you understand your symptoms and your next steps.
Who I Am

I’m Dr Sylvia, a GP with over 15 years’ experience in the NHS and private practice. I’ve worked as:
- a clinician caring for diverse communities across the UK, Africa and Asia, both in an urgent care and women’s health capacity
- a medical student trainer, a tutor and supervisor for doctors in training
- an advocate for women’s health concerns including fibroids and menopause care
Today, I run AskAwayHealth alongside my UK clinical practice, focusing on under‑served women’s health concerns including vulval and vaginal symptoms, fibroids, menopause, and preventive care.
What AskAwayHealth Does
Online, AskAwayHealth combines short, focused videos with practical explainers to help you:
- Make sense of worrying symptoms (especially vulval/vaginal concerns, pelvic pain, bleeding changes, and breast symptoms)
- Understand conditions like fibroids, perimenopause, Bartholin’s cysts and C‑section recovery
- Prepare for real‑world consultations so you can use appointments effectively
On YouTube, more than 90,000 women subscribe to my channel, AskAwayHealth With Dr Sylvia, for calm, no‑nonsense explanations that fit into busy lives.
Why You Can Trust This Information
AskAwayHealth is built on:
- Clinical experience as a UK GP in both NHS and private sectors
- A strong focus on health inequalities and under‑served conditions
- Collaboration with reputable organisations, including work with NHS teams and the Patient Information Forum (PIF) on tackling online health misinformation
I’ve been recognised as a finalist for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Content Creator Award 2024 and shortlisted for multiple CAHN Black Healthcare Awards for digital health innovation.
All content is:
- Evidence‑based and regularly reviewed
- Designed to help you talk to your own healthcare provider
- Clear about what I can and cannot advise online
Bridging Clinical Expertise and Lived Experience
In this Black History Month feature for the Royal College of GPs, I share how being a Black GP leader means acting as a bridge — combining clinical excellence with cultural understanding and advocacy for patients whose voices are too often ignored.
How I Work With You
AskAwayHealth is not an emergency service and does not replace your own doctor.
Instead, I help you:
- Understand what might be happening in your body
- Learn which questions to ask in your next appointment
- Know when a symptom is urgent and needs same‑day care
Start Here
New to AskAwayHealth? Here are good starting points:
- Health Topics – explore women’s health topics by condition or symptom
- YouTube – watch my most‑popular explainers on vulval health, fibroids, menopause and more
- Email Health Service – get specific guidance and signposting relating to your own concern/query
If you’re ever unsure, treat everything here as a guide – and always confirm diagnosis and treatment with your own healthcare provider.
For Event Organisers, Brands & Health Organisations
If you’re working on women’s health, digital health or tackling misinformation, I also partner with organisations as a speaker and content creator.
I work with:
- Event organisers who need a trusted GP voice for keynotes, panels or workshops
- Health organisations and charities planning evidence-based digital campaigns
- Brands who want to reach women with clear, non-sensational health content
